This book is having a moment right now. Lots of people from all across the ideological spectrum are turning to it as a source of explanation and attempting to interpret it for their context. I have, too. It’s the backbone for much of my book on deconstruction.
It’s also a book that speaks directly into our therapeutic culture… and cuts hard against its grain. For many people, the message of this book wouldn’t be welcome or would at least be a hard pill to swallow. In the wrong hands, there are parts of this book that could be misused. But I believe when it’s rightly understood and applied, it can bring tremendous healing to those who are burned out in our self-expressive age.
Links Included: dropping out of spiritual formation, the crisis of evangelical leadership scandals, why Gen Z men are coming back to church, how John Mark Comer is not Rob Bell, novels are going away
